There's nothing quite like a Remedy game.

The style, the writing, the gameplay systems putting a focus on early 2000s Matrix-like Hollywood spectacle in a way far too many titles have "moved on from".

The real collective showstopper though is how well all these aspects combine. Jesse Faden getting lost in the supernatural, changing bowels of the "Federal Bureau of Control" is an original concept presented with such confidence, it allowed Remedy to resurrect and spotlight their past work all over again.

Mortal Kombat 11, Death Stranding, Sekiro, Devil May Cry 5, Sayonara Wild Hearts - all stunning works, but Control has that extra level of authorship that stands taller every time someone checks it out first time.
