1. Horseplay Is Important (And That's A Good Thing)

It was also confirmed that caring for your horse can mean the difference between life and death in RDR2. The narrator tells us, "the bond with your horse is crucial and changes based on your treatment of the animal."

For starters, different horses in the game are better-suited to different types of task, and in addition to using your horse for transport and carrying wares, the growing bond between Arthur and his horse will make intense gunfights easier.

Presumably if players opt to neglect their steed, they'll suffer for it, with the horse probably getting spooked by enemy gunfire. It's an intriguing way to encourage players to care for their animals without outright forcing it.

Fingers crossed Rockstar really makes the most of the player's emotional connection to their animals throughout the game. From the little we've seen here - and press notes which insist "keeping your horse alive matters" - that certainly seems likely.
