Speaking of coming out of nowhere, Kieran gets picked up as one of the dastardly O'Driscolls, only to endure a testicularly torturous interrogation, and emerge as one of your fishing buddies.

Sadly he doesn't have a whole lot more to do across the entirety of the story, so unless you really want to indulge in catching carp whilst picking apart the realities of scrappy gang warfare, Kieran is knocked quite far down this list.
