Red Dead Redemption 2: Ranking Every Town From Worst To Best

6. Annesburg

Saint Denis Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar

It's not exactly the most picturesque town, and it doesn't have a lot of personality. There are no statues, no monuments, and nothing remotely decorative. There's only one street, and the only amenities are a gunsmith, a coach, and a post office. Save for Strawberry, Annesburg is the only town in the game without an accessible saloon. The entire town is purpose-built and purpose-driven - literally.

Why is it so unexciting? Because Annesburg is a company town. A real-world phenomenon, company towns are settlements wherein pretty much every establishment (stores, homes, etc.) is owned by the same company, and that company is the main - or only - employer in town.

Annesburg is meant for one thing and one thing only: the generation of profit. Everything else comes second. Its workers live in squalid, unpleasant conditions. Those who don't die on the job die from medical complications later on. The town's water supply has that telltale sheen of oil pollution.

This is a town built upon worker exploitation. Nothing more, nothing less. More than any other settlement in the game (arguably even more than Saint Denis), Annesburg is a monument to everything that Dutch, Arthur, and John despise.
