In an era where so many open-world games just vomit out repetitive copy-and-paste mission types - looking at you, Ubisoft - it's enormously refreshing how meaningful and singular almost all of the peripheral missions and events here feel.

Whether you're simply hanging out around your camp, partaking in one of the many outrageous Strangers missions or heading off the beaten path to engage with a random encounter, it rarely ever feels like a chore. Even the most inessential side-quest seems like it was placed in the game with real thought and care.

And without getting into spoilery specifics, RDR2 does indeed have a post-game much like its predecessor, though a far more substantial one which can take a surprising amount of time to play through.

That you get all this alongside an extremely lengthy and rich main story instantly makes RDR2 one of the most value-filled games on the market.
