Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer: 9 Things Everybody Totally Missed

1. Twin Revolvers Are Now A Thing

This is not a drill people, dual wielding is now a thing.

Is there honestly anything more iconic about the cowboy persona than a hat-clad gunslinger firing off two revolvers at the same time? Maybe, but it would be a hat-clad gunslinger firing off a revolver and winchester on horseback, which, admittedly, is something I also hope makes it into Red Dead, solely because I want a chance to recreate Rooster Cogburn's famous charge in True Grit at some point or another.

Granted, this feature was in the original Red Dead Revolver, but it's a great way of diversifying the firearms on offer in Redemption's more serious take on the Old West. Redemption had a great focus on lever-action rifles when it dropped, too, which was all fine and dandy, but they kind of made pistols feel obsolete over time.

Either way it's been a long requested feature, and one I'm sure many will be all too eager to try out when Redemption 2 drops next year, if not for the satisfaction of roaming around with two revolvers, then for some imagined strategic benefit that they'll bring.

I would usually ask if you're excited, but considering it's Redemption 2, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point. Still, sound off in the comments below, and let us know if we missed anything else from the trailer!

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
