2. The Golden Age Of Outlaws
Both games featured the American West on its last leg.
The first saw John Marston actively hunting down and exterminating the vestiges of the West's violent, lawless past, only to be exterminated himself.
The
second showed us a bit more of that lawlessness, but even then, the gang was
backed up against a wall, and they were forced to stare down the barrel at the
imminent end of their way of life. Those themes were poignant -- and made for two of the most emotionally-rich video game stories ever told -- but wouldn't it be fun to see the gang running wild? To
see them as wide-eyed bandits fighting for a philosophy they believe in, back
when they ACTUALLY thought it could work?
If the story follows the early days of the Van der Linde Gang, then we could see the lifestyle that thoroughly intoxicated Dutch, Hosea, John, and Arthur.
We didn't see too much gang warfare and outlaw camaraderie in RDR2, so it'd be nice to explore what the gang was like in its glory days. And if not Dutch's gang, then maybe a new gang or a new outlaw.
Or, just possibly, one that we've already met...
