Red Dead Redemption 3: THIS Is The Perfect Setting

Rockstar's series is synonymous with the Old West, but there's another age of outlaws to discover...

Red Dead Redemption 3 is ages away. Like, actual years. In fact, if the gap between Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead 2 is anything to go by, we could all be waiting close to another decade for the third game to come around, with GTA 6 the focus of Rockstar's attention for now.

Even so, that hasn't stopped fans from speculating on what a possible third entry in the Red Dead series might entail. The prevailing consensus at the moment is that any follow-up to Red Dead 2 should venture even further into the past, finally spotlighting the golden age of outlaws during the old west, and the Van Der Linde Gang at their peak. The last two Red Dead titles have been more revisionist in tone, taking inspiration from the likes of The Wild Bunch and Unforgiven as the wild west came to a close, so it's understandable as to why fans are clamouring for something different.

But, in the spirit of wanting something a little bit 'different', let's go one step further. The original Red Dead Redemption concludes all the way in 1914, with war engulfing Europe and the United States on the precipice of a radical economic transformation. The old west was dead and buried, and civilisation beckoned, but this wasn't the end of the age of outlaws. It was essentially a new beginning, and one that that shares a lot in common with the old west, making it a perfect destination for Red Dead to venture to next...
