Red Dead Redemption Explained: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. Revenge Is Sweet

Without the Epilogue in which we got to see justice finally being served to Edgar Ross, the story would not be as rewarding as it is.

Going through all that effort just to see the hero get killed would make us feel helpless and kind of irate. Thanks to 19-year old - although looking quite older - Jack, we get to see that sometimes, the bad guys get what they deserve.

The same can be said about Bill Williamson or Colonel Allende, who killed a lot of people for personal gain. Both deaths are rewarding, but not quite like the one served to Ross, who is no longer able to hurt anybody, yet gets properly punished for his sins.
