Red Fury: 6 Most Evil Gingers From Gaming History

2. Dr Robotnik/Dr Eggman

Who says Mad Scientists have to have white hair? The hippie-friendly conception of Robotnik as an industrialist hell-bent on conquering and reforming the world in his own robotics-infused image was a direct response to the debate between developers and environmentalists, and he can be thus considered one of the only "protest characters" from gaming history. That motivation is perhaps why he is frequently portrayed as a whinging child-man, prone to bouts of immature anger and temper tantrums if things don't go his own way despite his massive intellect and technological skills. He isn't the most physically threatening of characters, but in the grand tradition of Hannibal Lecter, it is his almost comical unsuitability to being an evil villain that make his impact all the more pronounced - and his penchant for locking up small doe-eyed bunnies for apparently no reason throughout levels pretty much confirms his malignance. Wanting to explore technology and advance the species is one thing, but imprisoning animals and forcing them to do your duty against your enemies is a step too far beyond innovation. Strangely for someone with an IQ of 300, Robotnik couldn't create any invention that wasn't unlocked or destroyed by the mere touch of a jumping hedgehog... Evil
