Researching the World of Max Payne 3

Earlier this week, Rockstar posted an article highlighting the research conducted into creating a new authentic Max Payne experience as it relocates to São Paulo, Brazil. In the article it was announced that in the coming months leading up to the release of Max Payne 3 they will be releasing information highlighting the research and production that was conducted to help create a level of authenticity and detail Rockstar is known for. Sending a research team to document local culture, police forces, weaponry used, and more importantly the landscape of the area was a necessary step in this authenticity. The above image is an example of research the team conducted. Highlighting on the left side, a task force known as ELITE in São Paulo. On the right hand side is the fictionalized version of these types of forces known as, the U.F.E. in the Max Payne universe. The team took several trips in order to document everything they could. Thousands of pictures were shot, in order to capture everything from outfits worn by locals to textures for use in the game environments.
