Resident Evil 2: 11 Insanely Cool Secrets & Easter Eggs You Need To See

8. Save The Date

No more than mere minutes into Leon and Claire's modernised return to Raccoon City does Capcom wait before inserting meticulously hidden references to Resident Evil 2's roots.

The first time you're handed control of either protagonist is at the service station on the city's outskirts. Before heading inside to investigate the groans coming from within, though, pay the slips of paper and posters tacked to the front door some attention.

Tucked away in the corner will be a small note with '1998-01-29' written on it. Not only is the date format true to the way it's written in Japan (year, month, day), but it specifically references the release day for the original Resident Evil 2 in its home country. North America actually received the game 8 days earlier.
