Resident Evil 2: 11 Insanely Cool Secrets & Easter Eggs You Need To See

6. Old School Soundtrack

Resident Evil Jill Sandwich
Capcom

Capcom's decision to ditch the original Resident Evil 2's persistent soundtrack in favour of oppressive atmospherics for the remake is a trade-off that's resulted in masterful (and terrifying) sound design, but there are ways to trigger specific segments of the original score during play.

One occurs automatically when you enter the police station's main hall for the first time, but there's another that needs to be manually activated.

Upon first entry into any of the station's save rooms, you'll find a usable switch that, when pressed, won't just bathe the room in light, but prompt the original save room music to play and soothe your beating heart before fading away into silence.

It's a delightful respite from the usual heavy rain and thunderous footsteps belonging to Mr. X, but don't get used to it. On repeat visits, you won't hear a peep.
