Resident Evil 7: 9 Past Mistakes Capcom Have Already Fixed

3. Return Of The Puzzle

It's often all too easy to forget that one of Resident Evil's defining gameplay pillars used to involve the solving of head-scratching puzzles. From maneuvering oversized chess pieces (seriously, who did those belong to?) into specific positions to deciphering pictures on a grandfather clock, the originals were chock-full of the things.

Now, I'm not saying that all of Resident Evil 7's conundrums need to be on the same level as the Beginning Hour demo's boggling 'Dummy Finger' puzzle, but it's definitely that train of thought that should be nurtured for the full game.

Besides everything else, being required to stimulate your grey matter for a few minutes rather than constantly blasting undead humans in the face provides a great change of pace for gameplay.
