Resident Evil 7: 9 Times Capcom Abused The Fanbase

3. Sheva's A.I.

After the universal backlash against Ashley Graham in 4, Capcom switched it around for RE5 and gave you an AI partner who was actually capable of kicking ass and taking names. The problem was her AI was entirely broken and Sheva proved to be nothing but a frustration for players, only a slightly different kind of frustrating from Ashley. Sheva was capable of handling a gun and healing the player, with the whole intention for her to genuinely useful - especially in a firefight. Her AI was massively imbalanced though, so she would end up wasting everything you could possible need at the most inopportune of times. She had uncanny knack of trying to heal you when you were at 90% health, wasting precious First Aid Sprays or worse, using heavy weapons on normal enemies and chewing through the rarer ammo types ahead of big boss fights. The one benefit to Sheva was that if you had a second player either online or on split screen, with someone else controlling her she became the most useful thing in the game. Some of the battles really did benefit from the co-op experience, it's just a shame she was saddled with such an atrocious AI in the first place.
