Resident Evil 7 Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To Know
8. It Takes 9-12 Hours To Finish
"My first playthrough clocked in at about nine and a half hours but boy did I appreciate all of them." - Pure PlayStation
"I say this not to brag, but to suggest that if 10-12 hours seems too short for some reason, the various unlockables and challenges provide a tantalizing carrot to chase. Even on my third playthrough, I was finding new secrets and insane death animations that I never came across the first time through." - Destructoid
"By the end of the campaign, I was ready for the game to be over, but that's okay. RE7 ends just as it starts to outstay its welcome, and after the fact, I felt like I'd survived a truly harrowing journey." - Gamespot
RE7's length was another major sticking point pre-release: would it be a disappointingly short 6-hour romp or an overlong slog like the 15-plus-hour Alien: Isolation?
Thankfully it seems that the game falls somewhere in the middle, taking 9-12 hours on a first playthrough depending upon how much you explore.
Several reviewers also commented that there are a ton of hidden objects to both look at and collect, which will present a lot of added play time and replay value to the hardcore crowd, especially as some of the these trinkets reference the earlier games in the series.
