Although finding the phone in a secret upstairs room is one of the seemingly few endings in the Resident Evil 7 demo, there's actually three permutations of it that can be achieved by following a few different steps.

However it's the third of these that's by far the most challenging achieve, and it's suitably the most intriguing. To get this ending you have to unlock the secret set of stairs on the first floor of the building without alerting the moving mannequins behind you, then once you're in the room you have to run to the phone and answer it before it gets a chance to ring.

However, although each of the phone call endings trigger a cryptic line of dialogue, it's the voice on the phone rather than the words that are uttered that have sparked the most intrigue online.

Many of the lines themselves seem like an attempt to get players to think about past games in the series, and fans have even argued that the voice on the phone is actually that of series veteran Ada Wong. I can't confirm if this is true, but if it is then this ending could indicate that Resident Evil 7 is going to have a much larger connection to the franchise than many people are expecting.
