6. Ethan's Search Takes Him To An Eastern European Village
At this point we may not know the reasons why Chris kidnaps Rose, but we do know where he takes her.
In RE8, Ethan’s hunt for his missing child will see him venture to an isolated village somewhere in Eastern Europe. Current speculation is that the village will be located in Romania since footage of the inventory screen displays the currency as “Lei”, the plural for the Romanian Leu.
With the setting oozing Gothic horror vibes, it’s only fitting that the developers will be looking to create the Resident Evil equivalent of Transylvania – and who doesn’t want to see that?
Moreover, from what we’ve seen in trailers it looks like the locals have a fascination with the occult and seem to be in the middle of preparing some sort of ritual that may or may not involve Ethan’s daughter.
This isn’t the first time the series has taken us to rural European. The opening of Resident Evil 4 took us to an unnamed Spanish town populated by mindless and murderous locals. Nevertheless, this wintery Gothic aesthetic marks a distinct departure from anything we’ve seen in the franchise to date.
