This last point is where we start to approach the realms of
speculation, and it surrounds a strange symbol that’s been featured in the trailers and marketing material.
The symbol in question is a foetus surrounded by twigs and feathers. According to the developers, this single image is so vital to the story of Village that they considered not showing us it at all. But what could this symbol, well, symbolise?
Referring back to the previous point about the Umbrella logo connecting the four family crests, current speculation is that this key image could in fact be an early iteration of the notorious company’s branding.
If this is the case, it’s not beyond the possibilities of reasoning that Village could potentially explore the origins of Umbrella, with each of the four crests having something to do with the company’s founding or the viral strains they’ve been experimenting with all these years.
However, it’s also possible that this symbol has nothing to do with Umbrella and instead represents the sinister ceremony that seems to be driving the narrative. Could the baby in the image represent Rose, a child required for said ritual?
