Resident Evil HD: 10 Essential Lessons Capcom Must Relearn

8. Enhance The Mood With Music

Part of what makes the remake so atmospheric and scary is the underlying score - a classically orchestrated soundtrack that enhanced the spooky mood of the game to great effect. As the series distances itself from its horror roots, this spine-chilling score has been replaced with more generic action music. Sure, it€™s not bad, but the classical stylings of earlier games gave the series its voice. There are so many tracks, such as €œSafe Haven€ and €œMain Hall,€ that fans can instantly recognise; that€™s how iconic the music is. You€™d still be hard pressed to find another game that sounds like Resident Evil, those musical cues instantly giving you goosebumps. The truth is that without its amazing score, Resident Evil wouldn't be nearly as unsettling as it is.
