4. It's Every Bit As Fun And Addictive As Guitar Hero
As creative and uniquely designed as Rocksmith is, the game still borrows one of its core concepts from Guitar Hero: there are about a dozen different modes in Rocksmith, but the one thing that people will most readily recognize is the core game screen, which resembles the fretboard of a guitar hero screen. It is on this screen that the player actually plays the songs they've learned using the techniques they've been practicing. And while the game is at its heart a learning tool, the actual playing of songs is just as fun and addictive as the Guitar Hero games were years ago. Rocksmith uses that perfect balance of challenge and reward that drives the player to improve their general playing ability and their familiarity with specific songs in order to unlock more and more modes, amps, venues or any of the hundreds of unlockables. And knowing that at the end of the day your real reward will be the ability to actually play a song on guitar rather than just some more points and a fun afternoon makes the game ever the more engaging.
