1. It Further Distinguishes Itself From GTA
As mentioned earlier, the main hurdle facing the Saints Row franchise since its inception is its inevitable comparison to the GTA franchise, when in fact, the two series have evolved to become very different. On the side of the Saints Row franchise, this pertains to shifting the tone as far silly as possible; where GTA has opted for more serious storytelling, Saints Row has hurled itself off the deep end, opting for a surreal, often scarcely comprehensible narrative with larger-than-life, cartoonish characters. Saints Row IV continues this tradition, carving a niche out for itself that's even more absurd than we thought possible.
