Satoru Iwata - 10 Iconic Nintendo Games You Should Play As Tribute
6. Kirby's Adventure
While Kirby's Dream Land was the debut for Hal Laboratory's tiny testicular-shaped hero, it was with Kirby's Adventure that Satoru Iwata began to exercise more influence on the series, acting as one of the main producers of the game after going uncredited during the development of Dream Land. The game was a revelation, garnering some of the best reviews for any NES platformer that didn't star Mario. Using unique graphical effects that weren't thought possible on the NES at the time, the title proved that there was still plenty of life in Nintendo's old dog, despite the fact that both the Mega Drive and the SNES had established themselves by the time 1993 rolled around. Sure, it's a little bit on the short side and it's not exactly the hardest game in the world, but there are few others around that demonstrate the inventive genius of Satoru Iwata and Hal Laboratory than the Kirby games and - for many - Kirby's Dream Land is the absolute pick of the bunch. Luckily, if you aren't fortunate enough to have a NES original, the game can be picked up on the Virtual Console for a reasonable price.
