Silent Hill Being REBOOTED Into Two Different Games

Prepared to be terrified all over again.

Not one, but two Silent Hill games?! Yes, apparently so.

According to the ever-reliable AestheticGamer – who also recently dropped some interesting news about Resident Evil 8 – Konami is currently at work on two new Silent Hill offerings.

It’s been six years since gamers have heard anything remotely positive on a new Silent Hill game. That was back in 2014, when Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro were at work on the Norman Reedus-starring Silent Hills.

Despite that game’s ‘playable teaser’ proving hugely popular, the project was ultimately completely scrapped in 2015. And for fans of the Silent Hill franchise, that was indeed a sad, sad day.

If AestheticGamer is correct, the next few years should be serving up a “soft reboot” of the main Silent Hill series and an episodic, decision-driven game that’s akin to what TellTale have offered up in recent years.

Debuting on the original PlayStation in 1999, Silent Hill went on to become a powerhouse horror franchise that spanned eight main games, several spin-offs, a couple of movies, and some books and comics.

Given the recent success of Capcom’s Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 HD remakes – not to mention the huge anticipation surrounding the impending HD do-over of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis – many gamers have been making teary-eyed glances towards the Silent Hill games of yesteryear and wondering whether or not we’ll eventually get treated to another terrifying trip to this most sinister of towns.

Now, maybe – just maybe – we should seriously start prepping ourselves mentally to return to Silent Hill.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
