Skyrim: 4 Reasons Why Tamriel Is The Worst Place to Live, Ever

4. Racism

Tamriel's a pretty diverse place. New York City may have several dozen ethnic groups living in the city, but Tamriel's population spans a half dozen species. And each one of those species is super duper racist against at least one other group. So really, no matter who you are in the Elder Scrolls universe, probability is that someone hates your guts the moment you're born, and without a single real reason. Well, I guess unwavering belief in your own superiority could be considered a reason, just not a good one. The Dunmer (dark elves) enslave the beast races, because they're inferior. High Elves refer to the other elves as €œlesser€. The Nords hate just about everyone and everything that isn't them. The Khajiit consider the other races to be unenlightened, and the Bretons...well, they're actually not all that racist. Weird. The point being that each race holds prejudices that are so strong, they permeate every facet of the society. Perhaps some people wouldn't mind living in a universe full of outright racism (racists), but I would imagine that being born on the short end of that stick would be a pretty terrible life. For instance, you could be a Dunmer born in Skyrim, who gets the pleasure of having insults yelled at you all day, but knowing that if you do anything about it you'll be executed. Or, you could be an Argonian in Morrowind, who gets to spend his/her entire life working a plantation. Wouldn't that be an awesome RPG experience.
