Skyrim Special Edition: 15 Mods That Must Come To PS4 & Xbox One
13. Open Cities Skyrim
Being a five-year-old game, Skyrim (even a remastered version) isn't all that strenuous on modern PCs and consoles. It would seem logical then, for Bethesda to use that extra firepower available today to cut down on those accursed loading screens between cities and the wilderness.
That's not looking likely to happen on Bethesda's part, but maybe that's because there already is a well-established mod out there to fill that role. Released in 2012 but last updated in 2016, Open Cities Skyrim lets you seamlessly go in and out of cities, making for a much more immersive - and truly 'open world' game.
Open Cities also opens up new opportunities for emergent gameplay, as guards will come running out of cities to defend their perimeters, and you can lure a dragon over a city and watch chaos break out amidst the populace.
