Spider-Man 2 - 10 Essential Fan Demands It Must Include

3. Full Suit Customisation

Superior Spider-Man
Marvel

Prior to the release of Marvel's Spider-Man Insomniac promised gamers that they'd be able to build their own Spidey costume to suit their own play-styles. While it's true the game shipped with an array of different looks inspired by the comics, complete with various sets of abilities to use in combat, customisation didn't go as deep as the initial tease seemingly implied.

That's why, in the sequel, Insomniac should commit to the idea of letting players built their own Spider-Man costume from the ground up. That doesn't mean forgoing their brilliant redesign or the selection of alternate outfits included in the first game, but it does mean introducing genuine customisation that encompasses both the surface level and beneath it.

Picture it: say you like the Advanced Suit from the first game, but fancy giving it an upgrade on the second go. With proper customisation, you'd be able to re-colour the white and blue and make them black - potentially in a homage to Alex Ross' Spider-Man costume from yesteryear. However, a fully-fledged personalisation element should also enable players to add abilities to their costume too, like such.

Spidey's web-wings always tend to split opinion, but if you're a fan - and you quite fancy the ability to glide as well as swing - then you should be able to add them in. Instantly there's a change to navigation, but when you factor in different kinds of webbing, spider-symbols and armours, Insomniac would be able to deliver the ultimate web-slinging experience.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
