Spider-Man PS4: 10 Most INFURIATINGLY Difficult Moments
8. Scorpion's Poison
Having been released from prison by Doctor Octopus and joined up with the Sinister Six, Scorpion lures Spider-Man to a reservoir in the city after threatening to cut off and poison the area's water supply. To his credit, Scorpion manages to get the jump on Spidey and, after explaining that Octopus wants to draw out the torture, infects the player with a poison that tricks their brain into creating nightmarish scenarios that their brains will think are real.
When the screen fades back from black, the entire city floor has been turned into a green poisonous sea and Spider-Man is forced into swinging over it to sniff out an antidote.
The sparing amount of buildings to swing from and momentum from the webs means that getting to the location without accidentally touching the ground suddenly becomes way more difficult than most would think, especially when the game throws in some giant scorpion tails that come up from the poisoned water.
These tricky platforming elements get pushed to the next level in the poison's next stages. The poison water is replaced by large floating platforms and destroyed debris that Spidey has to jump across, swing to and launch from, but the sudden changes in where the camera is looking, the lack of a clear path at times and some fairly intricate positioning and timings makes this a pretty fitting nightmare of a level.
