With Jake Gyllenhaal set to light up the big screen as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home, there's no better time to spotlight the character in a big-release video game.
A staple of the wall-crawler's titles for one chief reason - that reason being his powers of illusion give plenty of space for developers to manoeuvre - Quentin Beck could easily be the star of Insomniac's title. His appearances in the 2000 Spider-Man game and the seminal Spider-Man 2 confirm as much, with developers Neversoft and later Treyarch managing to depict the character in fresh and inventive ways in both titles.
The fact that this new release also has current-gen technology should, in theory, allow Insomniac to get really creative with the character too. There are a whole host of set-pieces they could create with the villain in the director's chair, and with Mysterio too having been an original member of the Sinister Six, there's plenty of precedent for him to take a key role in the story come September.
