Spider-Man PS4: 7 Combat Tips To Help You Dominate Each Encounter

1. Defeat Brutes With A Couple Of Button Presses

Brutes are a pain. Not only are they strong, but they're surprisingly nimble, able to run up to you at an alarmingly fast rate and deliver a powerful punch. Let your guard down for the briefest of moments, and you're toast.

The game advises you to use throwables and web attacks to subdue them before going in with your fists, but not only does this take time, it leaves you vulnerable to rear attacks while you're busy punching the daylights out of this one dude.

Instead, make things a lot easier by using this quick combo when near a wall or other surface, like a vehicle: press square to punch, circle to slide through the Brute's legs (so they're between you and the wall), then R1 to blast them with an Impact Web or a Web Bomb.

They'll instantly stick to the wall and you'll have saved a lot of time and stress.

Brutes normally run at you, leaving other enemies behind, so you should have the necessary space to pull this off. You can also just go right in with the final step of that combo, assuming your Brute is already in position.

As an added bonus, the Web Bomb will take out any nearby smaller enemies, too. It's win/win.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
