This may be cheating slightly, but the case for Venom appearing in Insomniac's game is actually quite compelling.
Insomniac have been teasing the character throughout GameInformer's coverage on the title, and with the character set to light up the big screen this October (we hope), his inclusion would make a great deal of sense.
Never mind the fact that Venom has been done to death in the medium - if Insomniac have proven anything so far, it's that they're up to the task of making this Spider-Man feel distinct, compelling and irresistibly unique.
Seeing them grapple with Venom in particular presents a fantastic opportunity to bring a new take to the character, and with the symbiote holding massive reverence with both Sony and Marvel fans at large, it makes about as much business sense as it does narrative sense.
