At this point, everyone has not so much beaten around the bush as they have leveled the continent surrounding the bush. Let's just point it out: There is a chance of Battlefront's otherwise grand return being watered down by DICE's experience with Battlefield. It's an exciting thing to see an established studio take on new IP - something that everyone's been seeing a lot of recently. However, ultimately this is waiting to open one of two presents: An eerily familiar experience which, approximately halfway through, will leave us questioning which disc we put in; or a refreshingly familiar one, replete with the high notes of previous titles but independently enjoyable in its own right. The question is how the expertise driving development is treated - specifically, whether it is used as a crutch or as leverage. Destiny, for example, demonstrates what Bungie learned with Halo and applies that skill set in new, albeit frequently faulty, ways. On the opposite spectrum, Square Enix is still struggling to shake the Final Fantasy out of their ear - a common problem when you spend a decade swimming in a pool of money. DICE should aim for the former approach and use the many tips and tricks of Battlefield to better the Battlefront name. What do you want from the new Battlefront? Want to see anything dropped from the originals?
A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games?
Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
