Star Wars Battlefront: 10 Things That Need To Happen

6. Bigger, Better Space Battles

Now, it's a nigh-impossible task to make the black vacuums of space more inviting, but it's much less to ask Battlefront 3 to offer improved ship-on-ship combat. The space battles of Battlefront 2 never found their foothold as true conflicts. Instead, they were relegated to the sidelines, ignored as boring, fortunately infrequent hurdles before planet-side combat. Truth be told, that's not a terribly surprising outcome; repetition is the soul of boredom, and there's nothing more repetitive to Battlefront than landing a cruiser in the enemy ship, trashing all their tech from the inside, and then polishing off the round with a few well-placed bombs to the exterior. That's all there was to space battles the last time anyone saw them: a race to an arbitrarily defined point cap. Oh, and wholly useless class modifications; there were those, too. Gibeau said it himself (speaking to IGN): "You've got space, you've got the surface, you've got infantry, you've got AT-ATs. That's the table stakes that in with. They know how to do that. They're really good at it." With some of the most successful military shooters under their belt, DICE is an accomplished purveyor of vehicular antics. Here's hoping they bring that to the ships, transports, and cruisers of Battlefront.

A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games? Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
