Star Wars Battlefront 3: 10 Ways To Make The Perfect Sequel
6. Introduce An Era Lock
This might be slightly pedantic - or make or break, depending on how hardcore you are about your Star Wars - but there was one thing that never ceases to frustrate about Battlefront 2: era inappropriate characters and weaponry.
Galactic Assault was a great game mode sadly put out to pasture by DICE, but it also included a quirk that didn't really appeal to a lot of Star Wars fans, in that heroes and villains could be played in all maps regardless of era. That meant you could have Darth Vader fighting for the Separatists during the Clone Wars, or Han Solo fighting alongside clone troopers. It just... isn't right, but it's a problem that stems deeper than just the game's heroes and villains.
Battlefront 2 released with a dearth of weaponry for normal troopers, which meant that DICE ended up allowing every class to use weaponry from whatever the era. It might make sense for rebels to get their hands on old Republic weaponry, but there is something extremely peculiar about seeing a droid shooting enemies with a First Order blaster.
So, that means two things for Battlefront 3. Number one: introduce an era lock on characters and weaponry, and number two; make up for the latter request by providing more blasters at launch. There are countless weapons in the galaxy far, far away - just go back to Battlefront 2015 and take a leaf out of its book.
