Star Wars Battlefront: 8 Past Features DICE Must Bring Back
4. True Control Over Everything On The Battlefield
Battlefront has became so wildly popular purely thanks to first seeing something in the movies, before then taking control in the game. One of my main criticisms of EA's Battlefront though, is the restriction that's then been placed on us when going into battle. AT-AT's, probably the most iconic land unit used by the Empire, featured in both the original Battlefront and the new one. The difference? The new one kept them on-rails. Players are able to take control of the unit's heavy weaponry, but that's about it. I understand why it was done, because being able to control a AT-AT in battle would be extremely overpowering, especially for the game-mode it is available in, but then it just feels like this restriction is in place because DICE want us to play the game in their own specific way. Battlefront should be about experimentation on the field, giving us the tools to play out battles that were so iconic in the series. The lack of vehicles available and the restrictions in place prevent us from doing exactly that - the total opposite of what the original series did so well.
