8. Cal Kestis

Though actor Cameron Monaghan does a solid job trying to bring protagonist Cal to life, ultimately he's a bit of a dull hero, a predictable "generic white guy" who is palatable but not particularly interesting.

For large chunks of the game he doesn't demonstrate much of a personality at all, his self-serious stoicism falling mostly flat, and only late in the story, once he meets up with Merrin, does he really begin to feel like, well, an actual human being.

Choosing such an "inoffensive", easily marketable lead feels lazy at best, cynical at worst, but above all else, Cal's a cardboard cutout of a character for about 75% of the game.
