Telltale's Batman Game: 8 Ways To Make It Truly Incredible
7. Lay Off The Joker
Like anything that sees mainstream interest take hold, it gets dragged out and stretched long past the point of being effective, until - in Joker's case - the character is simply everywhere, taking up roles and valuable screen time just for the sake of it. Jared Leto's upcoming portrayal is set to royally annoy the vast majority of fans thanks to being radically different to what we've seen so far, and even though Mark Hamill said he retired the role after Arkham City and Rocksteady killed the character for good ("He's definitely dead"), he returned as a vision haunting Batman throughout the entire game anyway. Arkham City's premise being centred on Hugo Strange and how he knows the true identity of Batman is a far more interesting prospect (especially for a narrative-heavy game) than yet another crazy Joker gig where he's holding a bus full of people hostage or whatever. The character works best when he's utilised in the most sporadic but impactful way possible. The guy's a revolver, not a machine gun. You load him up and let him fly when the time's right, and you always make sure you don't run out of ammunition.
