Tetris 99 continues the established ruleset of competitive Tetris. Clearing lines on your own grid sends them to other players.

In a 1v1 setting you'd know exactly where they’re going, but up against 98 others, you’re given four specific options as to how attacks get doled out.

Labelled "Random", "Attackers", "KO’s" and "Badges", Tetris 99 defaults to ‘Random’ at the beginning of each match. The others are those who are targeting you, those whose boards are almost filled up, or those who have the most badges, respectively.

We'll get to Badges soon enough, but know that sticking to Random attacks means you're less likely to make any enemies in the early game, and that can benefit newer players.
