The Division Reviews: 8 Early Reactions You Need To Know
4. First Batch Of DLC Is Xbox One Exclusive
Ubisoft have forever framed The Division as more of a 'platform' for content than an all-inclusive game, a mindset that looks to be the case for many large-scale titles going forward. As such, many DLC packs are inevitably going to flesh out what will become the 'Definitive Edition' (or the Dark Zone Edition, I'm calling that now) that'll release in a few year's time, but for now, Xbox owners can delight in the fact they'll get access to two integral packs, 'Underground' and 'Survival', 30 days before the PS4. The news comes alongside two additional DLC add-ons being released for free on all systems, but these aforementioned packs are the first sizeable downloads to be reconciled to exclusivity. At this stage the existence of such business practices is the only way to guarantee publishers will recoup their sizeable development costs, as although the 'console wars' ensures companies give consumers incentives to side with their particular brand, the reality is that it doesn't benefit the publisher or developer in question whatsoever. They can make twice the money by putting their work out on as many platforms as possible, and doing anything else just a matter of weighing up reputation damage control.
