The Division Vs. Destiny: What's The Best Shooter Of 2016?
2. Endgame Content
So you've put a hundred or so hours into either and you've finished the main 'story' or 'campaign' - now what? Destiny retorts, "What do you mean, 'now what'?! DO IT AGAIN", whereas The Division repeats the same sentiment, but adds "...only for a while, we've got more stuff coming soon" before reminding you of how the 'Challenging' difficulty should give the story missions an extra layer of replayability. The latter's endgame starts at level 30, a cap that dedicated players reached within only a day or two after launch. Destiny's has been modulated many times to account for the rabid fanbase exceeding it every time, now falling into an elastic system that relies on buying The Taken King DLC to exceed its 'soft cap' of 34, up to 40. Both games are designed to give you a smorgasbord of scenarios to replay, the hook being that you'll garner better loot and weapons each and every time - especially if you like the idea of returning on a daily basis for new rewards. In The Division, additional difficulty comes from attempting to do so solo or with friends (the wider variety of mods and tactics that you'll have to deploy changing the dynamic of play if it's the former) and this gives it a leg up on the competition, but only slightly. Destiny fans have re-ran every last pixel of Bungie's shooter purely because of how much fun it is to play, but that doesn't inherently mean there's more content there to get stuck back into in the first place. Winner: The Division
