The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the fifth instalment in The Elder Scrolls series produced by Bethesda - a medieval fantasy equivalent to their post-apocalyptic wasteland wandering Fallout franchise. Bethesda released Skyrim on the 11th of November 2011, clearly capitalising on a once in a millennium opportunity after releasing a teaser trailer the previous year.
The story of Skyrim follows a young Dragonborn whose quest it is to stop the prophecy of the world's destruction at the hands of the dragon Alduin, the World Eater. Boasting a massive map and a free roam ability Skyrim allows you to ignore or postpone the main quest line should exploring the landscape, delving into countless dungeons for treasures, hunting a wide range of creatures for crafting materials or joining a guild to hone your skills in a certain field take your fancy.
