The Evil Within 2: 6 Major Updates You Need To Know About
5. World Warping
Although a lot of The Evil Within’s disorientation was largely due to a pet-like camera which would rather misbehave and get stuck on everything, there was a lot of mindboggling moments caused by rooms suddenly changing.
For instance, whilst pursuing the robe-wearing Ruvik, you would chase after him only to see him disappear, the hallway become extended, and the staircase behind you be replaced with a solid brick wall.
This was cool the first time. And it did have people make comparisons to Inception – even though nothing about it was like Christopher Nolan’s neuroscience masterpiece. Still, by the hundredth-time Sebastian somehow ended up in a tank of ketchup, we were all sighing and groaning.
So… yay to more reality warping?
With large open areas now being manipulated and reconstructed, there is the chance for warping to actually affect the story, rather than just increase chapter lengths. And, with the image of a blue eye in the sky already out there, there is the potential for it to be more creative and psychologically disturbing.
