The Last Of Us 2: 10 Things Fans DON'T Want To See
8. Lack Of Enemy Variety
Since the The Last Of Us' ending basically prevented the whole mushroom zombie problem from actually getting solved (we'll get to that later), the monsters that populated the original game are still around. But from what we've seen in the trailer, Ellie's main goal is not to deal with them, but rather with an unknown but hostile group of humans.
On one hand, the Cordyceps were an uneven foe, often hard to figure out if you were avoiding them properly or not, and a pain to deal with when you had to. On the other hand, they mixed up the game play by giving you different enemies with different strategies needed to avoid/eliminate them. But since this game seemingly won't involve them as much, it runs the risk of putting too many "guys with guns" in this game. Which obviously can lead to a lack of variety in enemy encounters.
If the Cordyceps can infect humans, they can evolve to infect other animals, so maybe to spice things up Ellie could run afoul of other, newer types of monsters that she hadn't before.
