The Last Of Us: 5 Scenes That Must Be In The Movie

Joel and Ellie’s discussion in the farmhouse was the most emotionally driven scene in the game, and that’s really saying something for a story filled with so much death and despair. Joel was ready to let his brother Tommy take over, and get Ellie to the Fireflies himself since he used to be one of them. Ellie, having spent so long with Joel already, was upset about this and wanted to stick together, because it’s the only way she’d feel safe.

Ellie bringing Sarah into the conversation was the first time we saw Joel show some emotion since the prologue, and that was even after losing his best friend, Tess. Tommy also offered him a photograph of him and Sarah earlier on, but he just shrugged it off like he didn’t really care anymore. Joel’s remarkably-delivered line about Ellie not being his daughter was actually questioned by some of the developers, who thought it was a bit too cold and that it should be taken out, but I’m happy they left it in, because it really made the scene beautiful.

Shortly after this was when Joel agreed to take it upon himself to bring Ellie to Colorado, but the sheer emotion that Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson brought to this scene makes me hope that the film has the same, line-for-line scene within it. It would be an incredibly difficult task, but considering it’s my and almost everyone else’s favourite scene in the game because of its power, it deserves to be adapted as well.
