The Last Of Us Episode 2 Review - 7 Ups & 1 Down

1. Pedro Pascal's Subtle Performance

Some online discussions have argued that Pedro Pascal undersells the drama of Tess' death, and him bolting with Ellie is more funny than it is tragic, but I couldn’t disagree more.

His reaction is one of the most powerful moments of the episode. You can see the deflation on his face as he comes to terms with yet another loss, while the immediacy of him bolting as soon as Tess gives him the instruction to go speaks volumes about his character.

This is a man who can and will push down any potential emotional outburst and switch to survival mode, and him storming off while Ellie screams to stay not only sells the intensity and danger of the moment, but just how much of an emotional gulf there is between the characters, and how each of them, at this point deals with loss in their own ways. Great stuff, big up.
