All of this is character work is of course backed up by the performances as well.

Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker are better than they've ever been, helped in no small part by the advancements in motion capture technology over the past few years. Now, subtle emotions are accurately captured with industry-leading fidelity, allowing these constructs to feel that bit more human.

In fact, there are cutscenes where you don't even want the gameplay start back up, so content you are watching this story play out in some of the most well-performed and directed sequences in video game history.

Thankfully this extends to the wider cast as well, both new and returning. Everyone brings their A-game, and each one will win you over by the end.

Despite being such a technologically demanding game as well, the performance is rock solid. There were one or two times where the frame rate dipped a little bit, but otherwise I encountered no other bugs or glitches across my playthrough.
