2. Joel Is Tortured To Death?
This section may hold the key to Joel's fate in The Last of Us, and it all hinges around the cut-scene title that says "Ellie Captured Joel Alive". Due to the piecemeal nature of these descriptions, it either means "Ellie captures Joel who is still alive" (which doesn't make a lot of sense; why would she be capturing Joel?), or that "Ellie is captured, and Joel is still alive", which makes a lot more sense. My question, then, is why a cut-scene would need to describe the fact that Joel is still alive at all? Is it anticipating the fact that he is about to die? The fact that the next cut-scene is named "Cabin Torture Ellie Escape" suggests to me that this is the moment where Joel is tortured to death or executed by Joel, especially as Joel isn't mentioned in the remainder of cut-scene titles. At this point, the game is either entirely cut-scene based, or much more likely, control switches from Joel to Ellie. That said, given how eager these titles are to give away full-blown spoilers, there's nothing that flat-out says "Joel Dies".
