One limit of the Game Boy hardware was you only had two buttons. That meant you had to constantly switch between different items to solve puzzles and fight monsters. Depending on your point of view it was either all part of the challenge or a bit of a pain in the arse.

The Switch is a very different beast. In the remake Link’s sword, shield and upgrades will be constantly equipped, with buttons to spare to assign other items. This should lead to a smoother experience without constant stopping to switch things out in the menu.

The risk is you lose the baby along with the proverbial bath water. Nobody wants to feel like they’re playing a classic game stuck on easy mode. Grezzo have assured fans of the original that they’ve balanced the difficulty so the game will be as tough as ever.
