The Medium REVIEW: 6 Ups & 4 Downs
Ups
6. Unbelievably Gorgeous Graphics & INSANE Performance
I don't know about you, but I'm constantly waiting for games to show off what our new systems can do.
On the PS5 side, only Demon's Souls and Godfall were designed from the ground-up for newer hardware, and on Xbox, following Halo Infinite's cancellation we were yet to see a "Series exclusive".
Well, The Medium absolutely delivers when it comes to incredible visuals and powerful technical specs.
Running in 4K at a frame rate that can get up to 120fps on suitable TVs, there's a level of detail to each environment, mixed with smooth playability, that really brings it together.
The "other world" (or whatever you want to call it, there's no official name) is full of imagery that feels like it pulls from the depths of the ocean. Mutated cornucopias of alien tubing sit next to all-out body horror and decay, seeing limbs trapped in walls as shards of light punch through from an origin you can't pin down.
The hotel resort of Niwa is serviceable enough alongside, but clearly that's to juxtapose the striking imagery of this other plane at every turn.
