The Order: 1886 - 15 Easter Eggs, References & In Jokes You Must See

2. The Nazi References

Perhaps in order to sell the idea of the rebels as the bad guys, their designs draw heavily on Bolshevik, Nazi, and Jacobin influences, particularly in the striking use of red and black colours. The red armbands specifically seem like a nod, even if it does turn out to be misdirection. And confusingly, there's also a sense that the player - and the Order - also inspire links to the Nazis, given that their agenda is basically gene purity to preserve the supposedly superior race. The fact that they think little of exterminating the rebels seems to add to that, and their use of the mysterious blackwater should hint that they're not exactly the most morally perfect organisation. And if that wasn't enough for you, there's also a flyer advertising The Ring Of The Nibelung, by Hitler's favourite composer Richard Wagner.
